Who knows what you might find?

There is a story of a young woman who was an only child of a widow. She and her mother were very close and lived together in a modest home. The home was filled with love, happy days, delicious meals and many, many books.
One day, the mother discovered that she was ill and soon after, the mother died. After the funeral, the young woman felt very alone because she had no other family and because she worked at a menial job, she had little money. She wondered how she was going to survive. She did have a few friends. She always remembered that her mother always told her to look for hidden treasure in life. Although she had few material possessions, the joy and blessings that had been felt in this house were abundant, but this was small comfort for her for the future.

She realized that she might soon have to leave her home, so one night, she thought she might start going through the books to pack. She reminisced about how she and her mother had enjoyed these books over the years but because of work and her mother’s illness, she had quit reading. She reached for an old favorite, Little Women and opened it up to reread this classic story. As she did, something dropped to the floor. She picked it up. It was a thousand-dollar bill! Where did this come from? She picked another childhood favorite from the shelf, The Pilgrim’s Progress. Another thousand dollars! She went through book after book and found quite a tidy sum of money. She also found wedged behind some of the books were some older books that she didn’t remember having. These books were first editions of novels and when the young woman looked them up online, she found that they were unbelievably valuable. Needless to say, her mother had taken care of her daughter even though it was not obvious. This young lady actually was a rich woman!

Likewise, God our Father has so many treasures for us, also hidden in His books of the Bible.
